Listeria, E.Coli, Salmonella…frightening, isn’t it? Especially recently when news has travelled about tainted meat, contaminated water and food poisoning problems. What can you do to maximise your chance of beating a serious infection? Some healthy eating habits can even prevent you from getting sick at all.
Fighting Food Poisoning
-Eat antibacterial foods like citrus and garlic. Lemon water taken daily can be very helpful in killing germs
-Take prebiotics and probiotics. This will strengthen your body’s ability to fight off bad bacteria by having a good population of healthy flora. Do this especially after you’ve had antibiotics which can take down your immune system.
-Eat plenty of fresh foods instead of processed foods as these will strengthen your immune system.
-Coconut oil. Organic coconut oil has really great antibacterial elements which can pump up your body’s immune system.
-Organic Apple Cider Vinegar. Organic ACV can result in your completely avoiding food posioning when others you’ve eaten a meal with have all been sick. If you eat something questionable, 1-2 tablespoons of ACV can be very helpful in minimizing the damage in many cases.
If you get food poisoning:
If despite your best efforts, you get hit with some kind of bug, plenty of hydration, someone to take care of you and a trip to the ER if you feel beyond lousy is important. Most healthy individuals will be able to overcome food poisoning if they’re in good health so take good care of yourself on a regular basis to minimize your worries if you do eat something that’s slightly or more that slightly ‘off’.
